Artifacts
Photographic art created exclusively for you
Honor someone you love and miss, revisit the adventures of childhood, or celebrate a relationship through an original photograph by Mark Robert Halper.
You do not need to know what to photograph. You and Mark will discover that together.
Her father’s glasses
One of my early clients brought me her late father's glasses, which he nearly always wore and which were part of how she remembered him.
He loved to read, and as we talked she brought me several books from his library. Her father was Armenian, and the books were in Armenian too.
In the finished photograph, his glasses rest on one of his books, with a little of the Armenian text visible if you look closely. For her, those particular glasses, the book and the language connect the photograph with her father in a way that somebody else's image never could.
It starts with a conversation
Perhaps there is someone, something, or some part of your past you would like to bring closer.
You may have a story in mind, a few ideas, or no idea yet what the artwork could be. You and Mark begin there.
Mark creates your photograph at no cost to you and without any obligation to purchase the finished artwork.

Refractive Alchemy
Each photograph is created in camera, in a single moment in time.
Mark calls his process Refractive Alchemy. Using light, focus, and optics, he transforms the way an artifact is seen, revealing the life and imagination he finds within it.
The black and white photograph is then toned to introduce color.
Art that keeps your story close
Mark creates an original photographic artwork specifically for you, something visually compelling in its own right, with another layer of meaning rooted in your story.
